I just wanted to make note of the Open Projects by the Blender foundation. What more excuse does anyone need to not get involved animating or creating games!?

Apparently it’s not that new, but Flash Player 10 and Flash CS4 support 3D or what some are calling “2.5D.”

Of course there are numerous others like PaperVision and Swift 3D, but this centralizes it in homebase so to speak.

Of course LEGO has their very own software they endorse.

However if you are into freedom with open source then check out LDraw, an open source LEGO CAD program.

Anders’ Corner of the Web has another called BlockCAD.

Bricksmith for the Apple Macintosh is another.

I was digging through the Google 3D Warehouse and noticed quite a few decent models.  I hate SketchUp though and was not sure if Blender could handle Collada.

Apparently via this plugin it can.  Thanks Illusoft.
