Linking to specific Java Midlets in Windows Mobile

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

I found this article to be of great help when it came to linking to GMail and Opera Mini.

In my case it was:

30#"\windows\jeodek.exe" -run s3_ for GMail

…and:

30#"\windows\jeodek.exe" -run s2_ for Opera Mini

“s0_” was Sprint’s stupid “Music Store” application and “s1_” does not exist on my phone.

One-Way OneNote Synchronization Workaround

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

OK, so my bright idea was to go into OneNote (Desktop) and “Save As…” to another location outside of the:

%homepath%\Documents\OneNote Notebooks

…directory.  Bear in mind, moving this will not accomplish the same thing as OneNote (Desktop) will track where you moved it and of course you also cannot save anywhere within that directory or OneNote (Desktop) will find them and promptly remove them once deleted from the device.

I put my newly synchronized mobile OneNotes into:

%homepath%\Documents\OneNote Notebooks - NoSync

…I know, super-genius creativity is hard to even grasp with a normal human mind — I forgive you.

NOTE:

Re-verify all of the above actions as I found what I believe to be an unrelated option that shouldn’t have affected anything but who knows… ?

Bluetooth ActiveSync’ing

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

Hey many thanks to the cats over at Amset.info for providing fairly detailed instructions on using ActiveSync over Bluetooth.  All works well over here except I had to modify some stuff for it to actually work.

Seriously, the ONLY way I got it to work in Vista was this:

Yeah Amset, I bit off your clever watermark everything because people are asses and steal other people’s intellectual property.  Word.

Here is the awesome pairing article:

OneNote

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

Boy don’t I feel stupid!  For ages I’ve told the wife I should just purchase Microsoft Office OneNote and get it over (as I was never able to find an alternative that could decipher the OneNote Mobile format).  Then I start digging through old student software I purchased for like $5 to $16 a pop (and only because it was that cheap) and found OneNote 2007.

*sigh*

Anyway, see the bottom of this link for the REAL fix.  I didn’t have any problems installing OneNote 2007 last, but your mileage may vary.  I did have to perform this for another but in addition had to install OneNote Mobile from the application after setting up an ActiveSync partnership with their mobile device.

My first HTC Touch got OneNote Mobile in the Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM update and my second Touch already had OneNote Mobile installed (as it came standard with WM6.1 at this point).

I didn’t run into any problems with the aforementioned installation was the point of that gibberish.
