FTP Synchronization

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

I’ve been searching for an application I found years ago that was able to synchronize folders locally and remotely (FTP), but I simply cannot find it.  It was very unique, I recall, just not recalling it well enough to find it by its features.  Anyway, in my search I’ve found these:

WinSCP, probably the best choice, has the ability to synchronize an FTP.

FileZilla is another open source alternative that I simply don’t like.

Here’s an article on found on the Novell site: AppNote: Using RSYNC with Windows.

Additional Mention:

FileWare (dot com) has a few solid applications.

Askywhale has one.

Awesome freeware: NirSoft, IRNIS, Xtort and more!

nnSoft has the wonderful nnCron Lite which should not be missed.

NirSoft is filled with a ridiculous amount of awesome in-house freeware.

IRNIS hosts a slew of free goodies including XCSC, XCSV, and XFFF.  Sorry, check there for the non-acronym versions.

Xtort is the host of Tiny USB Office (formerly Floppy Office).  It is simply a combination of several awesome little utilities though.

Horst Schaeffer’s Widows Pages carries several lovelies like “Reminder.”

HFS (HTTP File Server)

AutoMen which is actually found at 64K.it but this post describes it better.  This is a front-end for Mencoder.

CrispyBytes Development is home to two useful utilities: DateInTray and Clear Read-Only.

SDCC – Small Device C Compiler.  For those mobile programmers out there.

Windows Vista Freeware Utilities List takes a special notice for a compilation of software that is “tiny, installation-free, portable, and freeware.”

Eolsoft sports one of the best software I’ve ever had on older systems: Winmail Opener which helps you crack open those pesky DAT files.

Fantastic Bits has loads of unique freeware.  (Site in German.)

The next three are mail servers:

AXIGEN’s  Office Edition is a simple Free Mail Server.

MDaemon

I think I’m digging hMailServer best.

Additional Mention:

Ardamax (dot com) has three extremely useful utilities.
