This one in particular has a specific fix from Microsoft.
netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
Internet Connection Repair (ICR) Tool — This is a REALLY good one, but it tries to yank you into purchasing additional help. When it does that… run it again.
Here is the “isn’t guaranteed to work and never works after malware or virus corrupts your network” solution.

msconfig barks out:
An Access Denied error was returned while attempting to change a service. You may need to log on using an Administrator account to make the specified changes
While this didn’t actually solve the problem at hand, it gave me a clue as to where to continue looking and ultimately I found the issue.
Or how about when you go to remove a program:
The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.
Follow these easy steps. Although I’ve never had to mess with the registry. Just unregistering and re-registering msiexec has worked just fine.

This one had a lot of chatter with a few good ideas and this is just one of the Googles I tried.
Most of these were garnered from “the How-To Geek” site.

I would definitely check out SysAngel DVD Generator found at the link for PING, as well.
I’m not entirely sure how much of this applies to 2007 but this article was very useful in merging Outlook 2000 and 2002 PABs and OCs.

The University of Leicester has a bit of information on the Global Address List as it pertains to 2007 — which is why I believe the above link doesn’t pertain to 2007.

The beauty of both of these well-known applications is that you can simply save them to your hard disk drive and disconnect from the internet if you are worried about the transmission of a sensitive key. (Although a glance at the JavaScript can tell you it does no such thing.)

EDIT: I had to revisit this problem and this post was a boon. Here’s a bit about firing up the Wireless Zero Configuration which is apparently called Wired AutoConfig in Vista?
GTGina.dll was blocking the option to change how users log on and off in a Windows XP Home laptop so I first unregistered the DLL and then removed any offending keys from the registry by exporting the key and then deleting only the value.
regsvr32 /u GTGina.dll
The modify Windows Logon options were immediately available and the data was not permanently lost. No complications thus far.

Update your Linksys USB NIC drivers first if you experience this problem.
Request your installation discs one time for free.
So I really have no clue why “random Indian guy with the accent that is far too thick to serve as English-speaking customer service” tried to sell me the disc for “$10 or $12″ dollars.
Wow… heck of a coincidence… as I’m typing this the customer service representative called back and finally said the cost of the disc(s) are $7.
Too bad my associate found them in the meantime.
