Linking to specific Java Midlets in Windows Mobile

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

I found this article to be of great help when it came to linking to GMail and Opera Mini.

In my case it was:

30#"\windows\jeodek.exe" -run s3_ for GMail

…and:

30#"\windows\jeodek.exe" -run s2_ for Opera Mini

“s0_” was Sprint’s stupid “Music Store” application and “s1_” does not exist on my phone.

Avoid Sprint’s new “Picture Mail” application Smart Devices

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

This includes any smart phone or Pocket PC.  DO NOT download the new picture mail application as it has numerous bugs and apparently takes an unreasonable amount of time to send a picture.  It apparently screws up your synchronization settings.

There are several options available one of which is sMMS Picture Mail Composer. (Alternate link)

The trick that I use (and will continue to use) is sending a vanilla e-mail to the picture mail address with a picture attached.

Works like a charm.

Control.BringToFront and .SendToBack available for Smart Devices

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

OK, I’m totally confused now.  I swore that CheckedListBoxes were missing and then I noticed I misread — or so I thought.

The documentation for Control.BringToFront does not say it is available for the Compact Framework, yet I’m using it.

If it wasn’t for this link though — that I actually found earlier but didn’t feel the need to post as it only made me look sillier — I would still be searching for the existence of CheckedListBox in the .NET CF.

I wonder why no mention is made on certain classes that they are available for the Compact Framework?  Is there some documentation that I am not finding, reading properly… ?

As per this post, try:

I was suggested this link for PIM Backup but knew exactly where to get it.
